    Mechanic Job Description
 

Minimum Job Requirements:

1.  Be a legal US citizen
2.  Possess a valid Oregon drivers license
     with an upgrade to CDL
3.  Be 21 years of age, or older
4.  Possess a GED or high school diploma

Physical Assessment & Drug Screen:
A physical assessment  and drug screen is scheduled by management prior to employment.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Our mechanics, working under limited supervision, perform preventative maintenance, run inspections and diagnostics tests, and repair a variety of vehicles and equipment. In addition to these responsibilities, they are also required to push, pull, drag, and lift items up to 50 pounds. They also are responsible for performing repairs and maintenance on rear-end loader, roll-off, automated trucks, and other vehicles and equipment to maximize safe and productive operations.

 In addition our mechanics must:

  • Road test vehicles to troubleshoot problems and/or test repairs to ensure all repairs are complete and the vehicle is safe to drive.

  • Accurately complete reports and logs and communicate with supervisor and/or driver for clarification or problems. May discuss preventive techniques with drivers to minimize future repairs.

  • Makes emergency road calls to make repairs to trucks that break down while in the field.

  • Other duties as assigned.


 

FMCSR'S:
Our mechanics are also subject to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations which apply to a commercial motor vehicle that is self-propelled or a towed motor vehicle used on a highway in interstate commerce to transport passengers or property when the vehicle: (1) has a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) or gross combination weight rating (GCWR)—or a gross vehicle weight (GVW) or gross combination weight (GCW)—of 4,536 kilograms (10,001 pounds) or more, whichever is greater; or (2) is designed or used to transport more than 8 passengers, including the driver, for compensation; or (3) is designed or used to transport more than 15 passengers, including the driver, whether or not it is used to transport passengers for compensation; or (4) is used in transporting material found by the Secretary of Transportation to be hazardous under 49 U.S.C. 5103 and transported in a quantity requiring placarding under regulations prescribed by the Secretary under 49 CFR, Subtitle B, Chapter I, Subchapter C.
